2001 Evanston Municipal Elections
A Lesson on How The Democratic Party Rigs Elections
Back in April of 2001, I witnessed an election being rigged by the Democratic Party right before my very eyes in my home town of Evanston Illinois. The rig was coordinated by the Cook County Clerk’s office run by Democratic Operative David Orr and the Democratic Party of Evanston who coordinated the rigging. The rig consisted of Orr’s Office delivering ballots to the 1st Ward Election site two hours after the polls were scheduled to open. Every other Ward in Evanston received their ballots on time but the 1st which covered much of Downtown Evanston did not.
The second part of the rig involved the Democratic Party of Evanston (DPOE) sending out emails to its members in the 1st Ward. The email wasn’t specific, but it advised members of the 1st ward to wait until late morning on Election Day. I was able to view the email, but was not allowed to have a copy because of all the names listed that were part of the steal. What I did see on the email was MoveOn.org which told me everything I needed to know.
On the morning of the Election, my late Father was working at the Evanston Public Library as an election judge for the Evanston GOP. My parents were very devout Republicans who rarely talked politics around us kids and they often volunteered on Election Day. I was at my Sporting Goods store (which was two blocks from the Library) when my father called me and told me to call the Evanston Police as there was a problem. I left my store and went to see for myself.
When I got to the Library, there was Police present, representatives from the County Clerk’s Office (with the ballots), the Media (Chicago Tribune and the Sun Times/Pioneer Press), members of the Evanston League of Women’s Voters, and a Democratic Party Activist named Robert Atkinson who was telling Northwestern Students that they needed 3 forms of ID to vote in Evanston which wasn't true. As I stood there, the Evanston Police told everyone to disperse as if nothing happened. No charges were filed against Atkinson and the media only reported that there was minor issue that did not affect the outcome of the election.
Incumbent Arthur Newman defeated Northwestern Professor Allan Drebin by less than 70 votes and thus the 2001 election was rigged. What was significant about the 2001 Evanston Municipal Election was it would determine the fate of Evanston’s future. Electing Professor Drebin (an expert in Municipal Finance at Northwestern) would have meant fiscal responsibility and the funding of pensions while electing Art Newman would bring massive new development and the underfunding of pensions obligation (not including Techers). Evanston was up to $350 million in unfunded pension liability by 2008 and after Obama was elected, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky was able to funnel money through the ‘system’ to help shore up some of the deficits.
The Democratic Party Criminal Cartel - just follow the money.
This moment was the first time my PTSD was triggered since leaving Active Duty. Instead of moving my business out of Evanston after 2001 the way many other smart businesses did, I remained and fought a battle I had zero chance of winning. I should have accepted the rigged election and moved on - better late than never.

There used to be a link to an article that addressed the Election controversy.
There is an interesting article written in 2017 about the political dynamics of Evanston and Northwestern University. The article mentions the 2001 election and the Kellogg Professor, but there is a much bigger tell within the article.
Quoted from the article –
"Although no current Northwestern students or faculty members are on this year’s ballot, members of the community have pursued candidacies in the past. In a controversial 2001 election, Kellogg Prof. Allan Drebin ran for 1st Ward alderman against incumbent Ald. Arthur Newman. As a tenured professor, Drebin was criticized for his ties to the University, which his opposition labeled a conflict of interest. But he said at the time his relations to the University wouldn’t impede his aldermanic roles and actually served as an advantage.
The 1st Ward covers the sorority quad, many off-campus residences and residence halls such as Allison Hall, 1838 Chicago, Shepard Hall, Foster-Walker Complex and Elder Hall."

“In a controversial 2001 election…”
The tell in this article by Erica Snow is her mentioning there was in fact a controversy during the 2001 Evanston election. Since no media outlet (Northwestern Daily, the Chicago Tribune, or the Sun Times) did any investigative reporting, then what controversy is she talking about? A stolen election.

Because of the rigged election, Evanston became a Progressive Left Community that drove out Conservatives while expanding the size of the Government for political purposes.
MUCH MORE TO COME!
